WordPress.com being the most widespread blogging platform on the web celebrated its tenth birthday. It’s a web hosting and blog building service actually owned by Automattic and Matt Mullenweg is the CEO of the company. Automattic has served masses of authors, artists, photographers and countless populations of business too.

Casing a decade of its performance, company has revealed some of the outstanding numbers in the WordPress blogging platform till date.In these 10 years of WordPress.com, 2.5 billion posts have been published using 137 languages feeding more than 3 billion comments. It has the honor of publishing the longest post with 10 million words, also a blog with a longest title containing 19176 words.

WordPress.com is operated by a Nonprofit WordPress foundation but the word WordPress is an unhosted open source blogging tool created by Mullenweg and Mike Little. The foremost benefit of this platform is that you can download the software and the templates associated with that to your PC and host it according to your wish.

WordPress was released on the global blogging community in the year 2003. In 2005 Mullenweg established an entirely private corporation Automattic and opened WordPress.com powered by the WordPress software. Recent surveys reveal that today 24 percent of all the websites are hosted on WordPress.com or use the open source software WordPress.

Number of the related blogging tools Akismet a spam filtering service, Gravatar which is an avatar-hosting service, PollDaddy a survey and polling tool, and Simplenote note-taking synchronization service. In the month of May Automattic also raised an ever funding round which valued the company at more than $1 billion.

So let me take this opportunity to wish WordPress.com a grand success for the future and may Automattic bring more enhancement in the technology. If you feel so let’s connect and enjoy the latest updates together.
